What do you know about it? I’m sitting here watching the documentary Finger of God and was brought to tears with the fact that here in America, overall, not everywhere, I know, but overall, we live within our limits. God has NO limits. We, myself included, have put God in a box that says He can only bring money in when needed, he can heal every now and then but only the “super Christians” can do that stuff. I could never do it.
And we’re sort of right. We could never do it, but we know a God who can. We have the same power in us that was displayed on the cross. We are supposed to be doing signs and miracles. And when we do not believe we have the power to do so, we’re saying God doesn’t. The God who created everything. The God who parted seas. The God who healed the sick, blind, lame, deaf. The God who fed thousands with one person’s meal.
Somewhere along the line we have misconstrued God and his power. We’ve taken out the greatness and power of our Lord and replaced it with nothing or something that we as humans can understand. God is all powerful. And we have that power because we have the Holy Spirit.
This documentary so far has told of two stories where a 3 year old and then two 8 year olds have healed people. What an amazing picture of child-like faith. They haven’t gotten to the point where they have decided God can only do certain things. They have not yet made Him small in their minds.
That’s the faith I want.
“And these signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons they will speak in new languages… They will lay hands on the sick, and they will get well.” –Mark 16:17,18
“I assure you: The one who believes in Me will also do the works that I do. And he will do even greater works than these, because I am going to the Father. Whatever you ask in My name, I will do it so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.” –John 14:12-14
“Suddenly, a sound like a violent rushing wind came from heaven, and it filled the whole house where they were staying…they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages…these people are not drunk, as you suppose.” –Acts 2:1-15
“And it will be in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all humanity; then your [children] will prophesy…will see visions…and will dream dreams…I will display wonders in the heaven above and signs on the earth below.” –Acts 2:17-19
Miracles demonstrate that God is real, but it’s love, love, that is the greatest power in the universe. – Roland Baker
